Happy New Year!

30 12 2009

Happy New Year to you all!  I hope you all have fun activities planned to ring in the new year.  Things are going fairly well in New England lately.  Here is a brief report of our progress.  We currently have 14 active clubs with 276 members!  We have 1 newly chartered club at Mitchell College and a few more that are in progress right now so hopefully we will have more to report on that as well!  Our membership is still expected to increase with a couple of our clubs still waiting to have their dues processed.  So congratulations New England!  We are starting 2010 on a very good note!  This weekend the District Board is holding a meeting in Bridgewater MA and we have lots to plan for our upcoming Convention.  Look for more details just after the weekend on our website at http://www.necknews.org!  Also you can register now!

Kiwanis Conference and KPTI Day

6 12 2009

The past month has been very busy in CKI!  I attended the Kiwanis Fall Training Conference in North Conway and had a great time with Governor Dave Koohy and the rest of the New England District of Kiwanis.  I was happy to be able to report some of our new potentials for club charters with Gordon College and Mitchell College.  We also have some potential in UConn, UMF, and Lyndon State College.

On December 5th we had the KPTI Day Open House for the entire New England Family of Kiwanis.  This year was a bigger turnout than ever.  There were some great speakers as well as tours of the trauma units.  I am also VERY proud to say that thanks to the wonderful generosity and hard work of New England Circle K – we were able to donate over 100 fleece blankets to KPTI!  Thanks to Keene, Westfield, Bridgewater, UNH, and Northeastern for helping out!  For those of you that weren’t able to make it – if you have any donations of blankets, money, trauma dolls or anything else, you can bring them to our District Convention in Concord NH February 26-28!

KPTI Day is December 5th!

11 11 2009

KPTI Day is December 5th!  KPTI Day is a great way to get to know the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.  You will get to tour the facilities and also hear from some people that work in the hospital.  This event is completely free to all of you – lunch will be provided for a donation of $5 to KPTI.  Hope you will all be able to attend!

Amazing weekend in Maine!

19 10 2009

InterNECK 2009 was an amazing success!  We met our goal of 60 members for InterNECK.  There were 20 new members in attendance and we had 5 excellent workshops ranging in topics from District Projects to how to spice up your meetings!  I want to thank each and every one of you that attended.  I also want to send a shout out to USM – our fantastic host club this year.  The pirate theme was great and the decorations were very creative.  We were also able to do tons of service for Camp Mechuwana.  We pulled docks out of the water, moved and stacked picnic tables, moved firewood, and we made journals and play doh for a medical center in Maine.  The event was a lot of fun.

InterNECK 2009 - Camp Mechuwana, ME

Miss out on InterNECK?  That’s ok!  We still have a few district-wide events coming up this year.  We have KPTI Day on December 5 – you can tour the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute in Boston, MA for free (with a small cost for lunch) and see where your money goes when you fundraise for this District Project.  Then February 26-28, 2010, New England will be celebrating 50 years of service at our annual District Convention in Concord, NH.

This school year is off to a great start, New England, and I’m excited to get to know you all better as the year goes on!  Got any fun club events you want me to attend?  Let me know at rich.cki@gmail.com!  Also, don’t forget – dues are due by December 1!  Talk to your club officers about how to become an official member of CKI!!!

No More Late Fees!

23 09 2009

No, this isn’t Blockbuster… it’s New England CKI!  We are proud to say that this year we are not going to charge any late fees for registrations.  The deadline has been extended to October 8th at midnight to give everyone extra time to make plans.  Since the camp we will be staying at for the event needs numbers, we do ask that you register by October 8th or we will be unable to accommodate you.  Registration is only $50 and is all inclusive for the weekend!

For more information about InterNECK, including a packing list and schedule of events, and to register online, visit http://www.necknews.org!  Can’t wait to see you all there!
